LIMERICK

Situated at the mouth of the river Shannon, Limerick stands as a dynamic educational, economic, social and recreational base serving the mid western region of Ireland and surrounding areas. The city is the hub and capital of the Shannon Region and the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland.

SHANNON AIRPORT

Shannon Airport is located in the heart of Ireland’s tourist region, just 15 miles from Limerick City and Ennis, and 56 miles from Galway City. The airport handles international flights on a daily basis and has excellent facilities including a wide variety of duty and tax-free shops.

A conference welcome desk will be located in the arrivals area at Shannon Airport. Airport transfers will be provided from the Airport to the respective conference hotels.

CONFERENCE VENUE

The venue for the conference is the Radisson SAS Hotel, Limerick and is located 10 minutes drive from Limerick City and 15 minutes drive from Shannon Airport. Set in landscaped gardens, the hotel has excellent accommodation, conference facilities, restaurant, traditional Irish bar, leisure centre and good car-parking facilities. Internet access is also provided in the hotel.

REGISTRATION DESK

The registration desk will be located in the Ryan Conference Area and will be open from 15.00 to 17.30 on Wednesday 16 June and from 08.00 on Thursday 17 June. Enquiries for the following should be made at the registration desk:

SMOKING POLICY

On 29 March 2004 Ireland introduced the Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) Act 2004 which prohibits smoking in enclosed workplaces.

CURRENCY

The Euro (€) is the currency accepted in Ireland. Credit cards are widely accepted. If you have an internationally-recognised credit card, cash advances can be obtained at any cash point machine displaying the appropriate card sign.

TIPPING

At your discretion. Taxi drivers and waiters are usually tipped at 10%.  

ELECTRICITY

Mains electricity is supplied at 220 volts (50 cycles). Plugs have three square pins. A transformer is needed to convert American and some European appliances.

WEATHER

The Irish weather can be changeable and is often very localised. This means that you may well have a morning of rain and an afternoon of sunshine. Cool days in June: 10 - 15° C (50 - 60° F). Warm days in June: 21 - 27° C (70 - 80° F)
